We are very proud to work alongside Kidsgrove Care Solutions, a CIC that provides opportunities and support for adults and young people with disabilities. This week they celebrate the first year of Brighter Nights, a social club for adults with disabilities at the Galley Centre on a Tuesday evening. Mick and Wendy (founders of Kidsgrove Care Solutions) have kindly written a short piece to celebrate a year with us:
“A year ago this week “Brighter Nights” a social club for adults and young people with disabilities was launched. The club runs from 7-9pm every Tuesday nights at the Galley Centre, Whitehall Avenue, Kidsgrove. Our activities include cake making / decorating, crafts and card making, sports multi-skills, aerobic exercises, a health and beauty nail bar, Karaoke, Discos and much more.
Our aims include helping people to maintain and gain social and daily living skills, supported by experienced, professional, qualified staff.
Brighter Nights social club was started on March 4th 2014 by work colleagues Wendy Lear and Mick Lunt who have 24 years combined experience of running sessions and activities for people with learning disabilities.
The club has become more and more popular as the year has gone on and has become a great meeting place for socialising and making new friends.
Because of the popularity of the club, a second “Brighter Nights” will be starting every Thursday night at the Haregate Centre in Leek.
We have lots of new things planned for this year so keep an eye on our Facebook page for all the latest news.
Finally we would like to thanks to Simon and the team at immerse for their support.
All the best
Mick, Wendy and everyone at Brighter Nights social club
We also want to say a big thank you to Kidsgrove Methodist Circuit who kindly donated £702 towards the rent of Brighter Nights.
This is such a great piece of work and we are so proud to be associated with it. Well done Mick and Wendy and all the team – so glad we can be part of the journey.
